DCL - 2016 Mediterranean, run up and reveal

This year has been the first year since 2002 (I think) that I have not been to a Disney park at least once, and convincing Dominic to go to Walt Disney World just was not happening. So, I compromised. A Disney Cruise. 

He wasn't best pleased about that either, but he had little to no choice!

We booked our 7 night Mediterranean cruise on board the Disney Magic!!

We did lots of planning for each port, only opting to take one Port Adventure, and deciding to do the rest on our own. Hours we spent in front of the laptop, hours. Especially trying to figure out Rome - I will come on to more of that later.

And it, of course, wasn't just the two of us going. Rowan was coming along for the adventure too, he is 6 for those of you that do not know. So, not only did we have the Cruise to plan, we had the reveal to plan too! After plenty of umm-ing and aah-ing about when to do the reveal - the night before, or a few days in advance. We finally decided to do a few days in advance. We decided this on the morning we did the reveal. 

It didn't quite go to plan!! I am still waiting for Dominic to edit and stitch the videos together so I will try insert it ***Here*** when he does!

What we did:

We thought of lots of different things that we would be doing during our holiday, and not just the ports but things we could do on board that sounded like normal summer holiday activities - go to the cinema, go swimming, read a book etc but mixed them in with the holiday specific things too. We made it into a raffle draw type reveal, seeing which of the things he thought we could maybe do with the rest of the summer holidays. Then of course we told him we could do it all.

Now, it wasn't supposed to be us telling him. It was supposed to be Goofy. We had booked the free character call that you get when book the Cruise direct. We had booked it for the night before and with the last minute change of plan tried to change the time to match the new reveal time. It isn't the best website and we thought we had managed to get it changed. But my phone didn't ring. Not quite what we had planned but it worked to a degree, and we hoped that Goofy would call at the original time we had booked.

Rowan loves his Duffy bear and so we added to the reveal with this letter (edited to say Saturday instead of tomorrow) left on his bed next to Duffy on the night we did the reveal!

The excitement started to grow, and on the Friday night Goofy called!!! :D

Of course, I had been very excited for months by this point!!! 

Eventually the Saturday morning 2am alarm came around and we were on our way!
