DCL - 2016 Mediterranean. Day 3: Naples (Pompei)

Today was the only day that we had a Port Adventure booked, and had to be at the Walt Disney Theatre for 8am. 

Getting Rowan dressed and ready at the best of times when there is somewhere we need to be is always a challenge. Obviously, every night is a late night for a 6 year old (and a 32/36 year old) on the ship so getting ready for 8 was nigh impossible and we were late.

From the Theatre we were given our group numbers for our coach and tour guide - we were group 20 with Luca for the Pompeii Half Day tour. During the drive to Pompeii Luca told us about the history of the city and the story of what happened on that fateful day. Once there we had the first toilet stop of the day (I only saw one more bathroom stop in the grounds) and had our free drink / ice cream. 

The tour around Pompeii itself was interesting and hot with little shade so lather up in sunscreen and remember to make that free bottle of water last! Sensible shoes are also required, and we had someone in our group who brought their pram/stroller which they definitely struggled with and meant that the entire party couldn't explore a section of Pompeii that Luca wanted to take us to. 




After the tour the bus took us back to the ship, we remembered this time about the lunch time hours and headed up to Cabanas for the lunch buffet. We then went down to the Promenade Lounge to make 3D paper DCL ships and took part in a family Disney Trivia - this time taking the winners medal with the lovely Cast Member Maroly. After it was back up to the Oceaneer Club for the Open House session of Become Iron Man that both Rowan and Dominic enjoyed.

 

The days on board go by so quickly and before we know it, it's time to head to the Walt Disney Theatre again for the evening's show "Walt Disney The Dream Goes On". After each nights show there is about an hour before before dinner, tonight we enjoyed some sunset views before joining Andrea, Scott and Tyler for dinner at Carioca's. Rowan was struggling to stay awake at after his 3rd plate of Mac n Cheese of the holiday, after a quick check of the Navigator app, we saw that Pluto's Pyjama Party was on in the Club. By now Rowan knew his way round the ship and was happily taking himself off to the Club / Lab (after getting our permission!), so we let him go down to the room get his pj's on and head back up to the Club to join in! We collected him after dinner and they had been colouring in a Pluto pillow case and he had a great time and we had a relaxing end to our dinner!
